Open The Book

The programme of themed and dramatised Bible stories is offered to Schools at no charge.
Each session is around 10 minutes long and fits comfortably into assembly times.
Teams of volunteer storytellers use drama, mime, props, costume – even the children and staff themselves – to present Bible stories in ways that are lively, engaging, informative … and great fun for everyone involved!

In December 2012, together with people from St. John’s Church we formed a team to go into Grove C/E School to deliver ‘Open the Book’ sessions during assembly time.
The Team includes Fiona Massie, Gerald and Erika Belcher and me.

In January 2013 we made our first venture into the School.
Since then, each Tuesday morning, members of the Team have presented a Bible story.
The Head, Wendy Foster, teachers and the children have really enjoyed these sessions and look forward to them each week with great excitement.

It’s been a joy to work together with people from another church.
We are thinking about extending our input to Millbrook School in the coming year.
Please continue to pray that God will use this initiative as we sow the seed of His Word into people’s lives.

We will tell the next generation … and they in turn would tell their children.
Then they would put their trust in God.
(Psalm 78:4-7)

If you’d like to find out more about ‘OTB’, please visit their website or contact Paul John to discover more about how you could set up a similar group in your area.
It isn’t rocket science, but it is a very effective means of communicating Biblical truth to Years 1-6.
